Students at a school in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, created footwear that protects against rape, enabling girls to protect themselves from those who would mistreat them.
According to reports, this invention was created by Vijaylakshmi Biradar, a class 10 student from Kalburgi’s SRN Mehta School, to prevent girls from being abused.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF ANTI-RAPE FOOTWEAR?
When a perpetrator tries to abuse a girl, she can kick them away wearing anti-rape footwear, according to Vijaylakshmi. The wearer of these shoes will be electrocuted.
She added that batteries allow energy to pass through shoes, aiding the girls in their struggle against offenders.
In addition to this, it features a built-in GPS capability that will warn the girl’s parents and include a live location update.
Vijaylakshmi began working on this project in 2018, when she was in class 7 or 8, according to her teacher, who was speaking with her about it. She further disclosed that Vijaylakshmi has been working on this project for a considerable amount of time and has won numerous honours.
She most recently received recognition for her project at the Goa International Invention and Innovation Expo.
