When India gained independence in 1947, the firm began advertising its Glucose cookies as an alternative to British biscuits. The popularity of items like Parle-G biscuits and cold beverages like Gold Spot, Thums Up, and Frooti helped the Parle brand become well-known in India.
The original Parle corporation was divided into three independent companies, each held by a part of the Chauhan family, with Parle Agro Products owning the majority of them.
