During Navratri, why are onions and garlic forbidden?

Onion and garlic are taamsic foods that are thought to awaken the body’s carnal vitality. Onions generate heat in the body and are therefore forbidden during the Navratri fast.


Garlic and onion are referred to as Rajogini, a toxin that might cause one to lose control of their instincts. It’s difficult to tell the difference between your wants and your priorities as a result of this.
